Mental Health Therapy in the Community
Our Approach
We work with Indigenous children and youth through a Two-Eyed seeing approach honouring traditional knowledge while incorporating Westernized approaches to mental health. Our treatment plans will be tailored honouring your unique needs as an individual. Therapists will meet clients in their community to break down barriers accessing mental health. This also provides opportunities for skill building and regulation through a CBT exposure therapy model by focusing on the following areas:
Emotional processing
Youth are supported to process emotions in real life scenarios outside of the clinical setting.
Extinction
Helping youth to unlearn negative associations in real life settings.
Habituation
Through exposure youth become more accustomed to stressful situations/environments in their communities.
Self-efficacy
Through supported exposure in community with opportunities to practice skills in potentially stress inducing situations youth become more confident in their abilities to regulate their own behaviours and emotions.
